A native San Franciscan, Matthew Martin has been captivating audiences with his performances as Bette Davis across San Francisco, New York City, Los Angeles, and London. Notable productions include Awe About Eve, Hush Up, Sweet Charlotte, Whatever Happened to B.B. Jane?, and The Star. He starred in the film parodies Hush Up, Sweet Charlotte and Baby Jane?, which premiered at the Frameline Film Festival, and was featured in the documentary Queer Icon: The Cult of Bette Davis.
Matthew’s extensive stage career in San Francisco includes performances with Theatre Rhinoceros and many other local productions. He has wowed audiences in D’Arcy Drollinger’s Bitch Slap, Disastrous, Shit & Champagne, and Champagne White and the Temple of Poon. A multifaceted artist, Matthew is known for his impersonations of stars such as Joan Crawford, Katharine Hepburn, Judy Garland, Ann Miller, Jane Russell, Susan Hayward, Eartha Kitt, Mitzi Gaynor, and many others from the Golden Age of Hollywood.
Matthew has also appeared in Marc Huestis’ grand productions at the Castro Theater, and since 2007, has delighted fans with his portrayal of Blanche Devereaux in The Golden Girls live shows.
