The Newlywed Game
A benefit for the “Brothers of the Desert”
Fasten your seatbelts, it’s going to be a fun night at Oscar’s, as Patty Cakes and you our audience will get to ask questions of the three celebrity newly wed couples.
Just like the 70’s hit TV show. There will be lots of malarkey, she-nanagans, and laughs along the road to finding out which couple knows each other best. Door open at 6pm and show at 7pm.
Order appetizers, dinner and cocktails from the Oscar menu. Our contestants are from Palm Springs Fire Department, A.M.R. Palm Springs Ambulance, and Palm Springs Police Department.

Palm Springs Police Department
911-Dispatcher Allan Mader, and his husband Alan have been a couple for twenty-three years, and legally married for the last nine years. Allan has been dispatching calls since 1994. You do the math.
We’ve added to the nights agenda a live performance from Dion Kahn. Dion is a Coachella Valley local who was a premier karaoke host throughout the valley till a fan threw his hat in the ring for the inaugural Palm Springs Voice competition in 2014. Dion went on to win that competition and received a cash prize & showcase at the venue. Due to branding disputes with the NBC television show, Dion has the honor of being the first and only Palm Springs Voice winner. While Performing his showcase Dion caught ears of the venue’s house band, The Gand Band and after a few appearances as a guest vocalist, he shortly became “their guy.” For the past 7 years Dion and the Gand Band have thrilled audiences at various venues and festivals across the Coachella Valley with their blend of classic rock, Motown & Blues and have been voted “Best Local Band” by the readers of the CV Independent publication in 2020 & 2021. Dion took a break from the band for a solo, 4 month residency in Morocco. Now Dion is back in the States and although he still performs with the band, he is taking solo projects for more intimate audiences and venues that cannot accommodate a full band. When asked “What type of music do you sing?” Dion’s typical reply is “Whatever type I’m paid for.” We will enjoy music from Dion throughout the night!
What is the Membership Support Fund?
The Membership Support Fund is as stated: A fund created, or funds allocated to assist Brothers of the Desert members with emergency funding to help with expenses that are unexpected or unavoidable.
Black Gay men are disproportionately affected by financial challenges which can lead to reduced self-actualization, poor medical choices, placing extreme strain on physical and mental health, and begin a downward spiral of inadequate credit, lack of employment, unsafe living conditions, or worst homelessness.
The Membership Support Committee and Brothers of the Desert – Board of Directors will carefully review each request and approve funds, up to $500 to help with expenses that support life, the well-being, and the dignity of the requested. A gift to aid, assist and shine a light of compassion, and of hope for a better brighter tomorrow.
This is just one of many ways we advocate for our community in the Coachella Valley.
Brothers of the Desert’s mission continues to nurture and support Black gay men and allies in the Coachella Valley through education, advocacy, mentorship, social networking, philanthropy, and volunteerism.
